A new STS (ship-to-shore) crane tipped over at Singapore's Tuas terminal (LOCODE: SGSIN) on June 15. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
According to a media statement from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the new quay crane collapsed at approximately 1:20 p.m. while being delivered to a non-operational berth at the Tuas terminal.
The MPA confirmed that no damage was sustained by nearby port facilities or equipment.
“All of PSA Singapore’s (PSA) current operational berths remain fully accessible, and all port operations and port development works remain unaffected,” the statement read.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. Both MPA and PSA stated that they are working closely with the relevant authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the collapse.
