A Report on Foreclosure Fraud

While I prefer to keep things light  and upbeat here, there are some stories that just can’t be made pretty no matter how much fairy dust you want to throw at them.  This is one of them and it sort of falls into the “How We Got Into This Mess” category.

This document is a presentation made by the Florida Attorney General’s office.  You’ll note that the title doesn’t pull any punches.

Florida Attorney General Fraudclosure Report | Unfair, Deceptive and Unconscionable Acts in Foreclosure Cases

I invite you to look through this presentation to get a glimpse of the scale of this problem and consider that the banking industry is committing fraud on an industrial scale across the country.  Whether the states Attorneys General can do anything about this remains to be seen. In the meantime, this is one of those things that we should be raising hell over.  Fraud on any scale from our banking institutions cannot be tolerated.  But fraud on this scale truly boggles the mind.

The bottom line here is that major banks have created a system that rewards foreclosing on a mortgage and has removed any meaningful safeguards against unfair treatment of homeowners. I politely suggest that you call your elected officials and raise hell about this.  These institutions have put families out on the street and the people who run them should be doing hard time.
